PM Modi’s Official Website Set For A Reboot, To Be Available In 6 UN And 22 Indian Languages

The PMO has floated a proposal for redesigning the Prime Minster's official website. The proposed changes include increasing the number of languages for transliteration of the website.

New Delhi: The Prime Minister’s office (PMO) is planning on redesigning its official website and has sought proposals from agencies that having requisite experience in the field of design, development, and maintenance of websites. According to a report by PTI, a request for proposal (RFP) has been floated by National e-Governance Division (NeGD) for redesigning the PMs website. The proposed changes include increasing the number of languages for transliteration of the website. At present, there are 12 languages available on the website. The proposal aims for six UN languages that are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish and 22 Indian languages- Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Other features for website will include
  • prompt or language recommendation-based factors such as geo-location and language selection history. The document says "The static as well as the dynamic content on the portal must be translated and transliterated. The content will be provided to the selected agency in the word format/searchable PDF in English or Hindi,"
  • real-time integration with popular social media platforms, including the social media platforms integrated with the existing website.
The RFP says that the last day to submit proposals as August 7 and the last date for submission of queries will be July 30.
