New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the ‘Griha Pravesham’ ceremony of 5.21 lakh beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna- Gramin in Madhya Pradesh today at 12:30 pm via video conferencing.

Post the ceremony, the Prime Minister will also address the gathering on the occasion.

A day ahead of the event, PM Modi tweeted about the event and said that it is going to be a new dawn for the people of Madhya Pradesh.

“A new dawn is about to come in the lives of my rural brothers and sisters of Madhya Pradesh. Under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, there will be 'Griha Pravesam' for about 5.21 lakh families tomorrow. I will get an opportunity to attend it through video conferencing at 12.30 pm,” he wrote.

According to a press release by the Prime Minister’s Office, “It has been a constant endeavour of the Prime Minister to provide a pucca house with all basic amenities to every needy family of the country and this marks yet another step in this direction.”

The event will be witnessed by traditional celebrations using conch, lamp, flowers, and rangoli being organised in the newly built houses in Madhya Pradesh.

The PMAY-G has been implemented in Madhya Pradesh with many unique and innovative steps like training thousands of masons, including women masons using fly ash bricks.

It also worked on empowering women's self-help groups (SHGs) by providing them loans for centering material and using technology for better execution and monitoring of projects.

According to a report by news agency PTI, 24.10 lakh houses have been built under the PMAY-G scheme in Madhya Pradesh.

Among these 23,000 houses are for people from the Baiga, Saharia, and Bharia tribal communities.
