PM Decided To Keep Youth 'Unemployed' After 4 Years In Army: Rahul Gandhi Criticises 'Agniveer' Scheme

The Congress MP said that PM Modi decided to keep pension aside, train for 6 months, hold the gun, stay for 4 years, then kick 'Agniveers' out as unemployed.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday criticised Centre’s Agniveer scheme and said that PM Modi decided to keep youth in the army for four years and then to kick them out as ‘unemployed’.

Speaking in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, he said, “Earlier the youth used to serve in the Army for 15 years and get a pension but Narendra Modi thought to keep pension aside, train for 6 months, hold the gun, stay for 4 years, then kick you out and you will be unemployed. This is new India.”

He said that when the unemployed youth take to the streets, PM says that those whose photo is taken in the protest, will not get government jobs. Gandhi also accused BJP of scaring youths, farmers, and labourers.

“After this, when the youth took to the streets, Modi ji said that if your photo is taken (during the protest), you will not get a government job. BJP's policy is to scare youth, farmers, and labourers,” he said, quoted ANI.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that Ambani, Adani can buy everyone but not Rahul Gandhi adding that “he stands for truth”.

“Adani, Ambani bought everyone but can never buy my brother as he stands for truth,” she said.

Priyanka Gandhi joined his brother Rahul Gandhi in the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra at the Loni border on Tuesday

The Yatra has today entered Uttar Pradesh after a nine-day winter break. It has already crossed 3000 km and covered 46 districts in nine states in its over 100-day period so far.

She also spoke on Rahul Gandhi wearing a half t-shirt in winter. She said, “Someone asked me to save Rahul from cold as he is wearing a half t-shirt. Someone asked me if I don’t fear for his security. I tell them that he is wearing a shield of truth, God will protect him from everything.”

Bharat Jodo Yatra has today resumed from Ailum village in Uttar Pradesh.
