PM Modi To Visit Kargil, Continues His Tradition To Celebrate Diwali With Soldiers

Since taking over as prime minister, Narendra Modi has made it a point to meet troops in a border region on Diwali, starting from a visit to Siachen in 2014.

On the occasion of Diwali 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will celebrate the 'festival of light' among soldiers. He will be visiting the Kargil area, the joint capital of the union territory of Ladakh, as he continues his tradition of celebrating Diwali with jawans. Modi has celebrated Diwali with soldiers every year since he was first elected to the office of Prime Minister.

Since taking over as prime minister, Narendra Modi has made it a point to meet troops in a border region on Diwali, starting from a visit to Siachen in 2014. He celebrated the festival with troops in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district twice -- in 2019 and 2021.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent Diwali 2022 evening in Ayodhya. PM Modi was on his first visit to Ayodhya after he laid the foundation stone of a Ram temple at the once-disputed Ram Janmabhoomi site on August 5, 2020.

Earlier in the week, Modi offered prayers at the Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines in Uttarakhand.

After offering prayers to Ram Lalla at the makeshift temple in Ayodhya on Sunday, the prime minister reviewed the progress of the construction work. He also performed a symbolic coronation of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita at the Ram Katha Park.

Speaking on the occasion, he said: "The values inculcated by Lord Ram through his words, thoughts and rule are the inspiration for 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' (collective effort, inclusive growth)."
