PM Modi Carries Late Mother Heeraben's Remains For Last Rites In Gandhinagar
PM Modi carried the remains of his late mother Heeraben Modi in Gujarat's Gandhinagar. She passes away at the age of 100.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi carried the remains of his mother Heeraben who passed away at the age of 100 on Friday morning. The Prime Minister rushed to Ahmedabad from West Bengal upon receiving the sombre news.
Heeraben Modi was recently hospitalised in Gujarat's Ahmedabad and was previously reported to be recovering.
Taking to Twitter, PM Modi wrote an emotional post remembering his mother, "A glorious century rests at the feet of God... In Maa I have always felt that trinity, which contains the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of a selfless Karmayogi and a life committed to values."
A bulletin from the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre, where she was admitted on Wednesday, informed that Hiraben has passed away.
Hiraba, also called Hiraben, lived at Raysan village near Gandhinagar city with PM Modi's younger brother Pankaj Modi. The Prime Minister regularly visited Raysan and spent time with his mother during most of his Gujarat visits.
"PM Modi has left for Ahmedabad, flagging off of Vande Bharat train in Howrah, Kolkata and other developmental works of railways and under Namami Gange and meeting of National Ganga Council to be held as per plan. PM Modi may join through Video Conference," news agency ANI reported sources as saying.
On Thursday, the hospital issued a statement informing, "Smt Hiraba Modi's health condition is recovering." Earlier in the day, PM Modi's elder brother Somabhai Modi said their mother's condition was gradually improving.
“Her condition is gradually improving. She is much better today, she moved her arms and legs,” Somabhai Modi told news agency PTI.
Several prominent leaders such as Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh expressed grief over the demise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother.
