MUMBAI: Fuel prices at select petrol pumps in Maharashtra were cut by up to Rs 4 to Rs 9 only for Thursday, as a ‘special gift’ on the birthday of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena President Raj Thackeray.
People in huge numbers extended their greetings to Thackeray, who turned 50 on Thursday, even as they queued up at petrol pumps to get avail their 'gift'.
Long queues of two-wheelers were seen at pumps as people awaited their turn to get a tank full in their vehicle. “The waiver is being offered since 8 am in the morning and will continue till afternoon. Two-wheeler owners will be paying Rs 4-5 less at selected petrol stations in Maharashtra,” one of the party workers told ANI. “In Mumbai's Shivadi Assembly Constituency, we are giving a relief of Rs 9 per litre on petrol,” he added. Thackeray had in past slammed the Narendra Modi government a steep rise in fuel price prices.
