Parliament Monsoon Session To Begin From July 19; All MPs, Media Allowed Without RTPCR Test - Check Covid Norms

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that all members and media will be allowed as per Covid protocol and RTPCR test will not be mandatory.

New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday announced that the Monsoon Session of Parliament will start from July 19 to August 13, and will run for 19 business days. While taking stock of preparations for the upcoming session earlier today, the speaker further informed that the timings of the session will be from 11 am to 6 pm for both the Houses. 

Keeping in mind the ongoing Covid pandemic, Birla said that the session will take place in both the Houses pf Parliament with all necessary protocols and arrangements to accommodate members of Parliament (MPs) on a social distancing basis.

He also said that all members and media will be allowed as per Covid protocol and RTPCR test will not be mandatory. "RTPCR test is not mandatory. We will request those who have not undergone vaccination to undergo test," the speaker said. 

A day before the session begins, floor leaders will have an all-party meeting on July 18. 

The Monsoon session usually starts in the third week of July and concludes ahead of 15 August. However, last year, it had started in September due to the pandemic situation.

Due to the novel Coronavirus, three sessions of Parliament have got curtailed in past one year while the Winter Session last year was completely cancelled.
