Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said that the nuclear arsenal of Pakistan should be brought under UN agency's surveillance terming the neighbouring nation as "rogue" and "irresponsible".

The Union minister made the remark during his visit to Jammu and Kashmir, the first visit after the dastardly attack in Pahalgam where 26 civilians, including a Nepali national, were killed by terrorists. 

Interacting with troops in Srinagar, Singh hailed Operation Sindoor, the counter-terror offensive launched by Indian armed forces on May 7 against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. 

"The success of Operation Sindoor has made it clear to the terrorist organisations hiding in Pakistan and their masterminds that they should not consider themselves safe anywhere. They are now the target of the Indian Armed Forces," he said. 

"The world knows that the aim of our Forces is unmistakable. When they take an aim, they leave the job of maintaining a toll, on the enemies," he said.  

"India's resolve against terrorism is so strong can be judged through the fact that we did not care about their nuclear blackmail. The entire world saw how irresponsibly Pakistan issued nuclear blackmail to India several times," the Minister asserted. 

Rajnath Questions Pakistan 

During his interaction with the troops, Singh questioned the safety of nuclear weapons in the hands of Pakistan and said they should be taken under the monitoring of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). 

"I want to raise the question before the whole world: are nuclear weapons safe in the hands of Pakistan, a rogue and irresponsible nation," he questioned.

The IAEA is an independent international organiation within the framework of the United Nations. IAEA's primary role includes promoting safe, secure, and peaceful use of nuclear technologies.  

Singh further said that the terrorists killed people in Pahalgam by asking about their religion. 

"The entire world saw the reply you gave after that...We killed terrorists by looking at their 'karma' (deeds). They killed the innocent by looking at their 'dharma', this was Pakistan's 'karma'. We eliminated them by looking at their 'karma', this is our 'Bharatiya dharma'," he said.
