States Will Have To Seek Permission Before Hiring Labourers From UP Say CM Yogi

The Uttar Pradesh government has said that other states will need their permission to hire manpower from UP after reports about misbehaviour with UP workers in different states.

New Delhi: After hearing that labourers are mistreated in different states, the UP government has decided that other states will need their permission to hire manpower from UP. In a press conference, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also said that the government will provide labourers social security and insurance. “If any state wants manpower, they cannot take our people from the state without our permission as there were reports of misbehaviour with them in other states. We are taking full responsibility for labourers’ social security. We will provide every kind of security to them including insurance. Wherever they will go, we will stand by them.” Yogi was quoted saying according to ANI report. The CM said that the labourers were being registered and their skills are being mapped, a commission will be set up for them to ensure their employment. Labourers who returned to the state during the lockdown phase will be provided with suitable employment according to their skill set for this on Sunday he had ordered for the formation of ‘Migration Commission’. Reports say that he said that a German company will be shifting its production from China to India and they will start manufacturing 30 lakhs shoes in Agra which will also pose as an employment opportunity for the people in Uttar Pradesh. Also Read | Maharashtra: Political Uproar Between Raj Thackeray And Yogi Adityanath Over Migrant Crisis According to the state, around 23 lakh labourers returned to Uttar Pradesh during the lockdown to which the Yogi Adityanath has ordered to provide employment. The minister has also ordered that all the migrant labourers who have returned to the state should be home quarantined for 14 days after they have been provided with rations and Rs. 1000 in cash. Yogi Adityanath has also asked the Health Minister to increase the number of samples tested per day from 7000 to 10,000 per day. Earlier in the month, Adityanath had suspended several labour laws in the state especially those related to working conditions and disputes between workers and the company.
