'Not Farmers, They Are Hooligans': Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi On Kisan Sansad At Jantar Mantar

Meenakshi Lekhi called the actions of a TMC member in Rajya Sabha as shameful, says that TMC and Congress are succeeding in creating false narratives.

New Delhi: Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi has called the alleged attack on a media person in 'Kisan Sansad' a criminal act. She has also targeted the TMC by calling their behaviour in Parliament as shameful.

After the alleged attack on the media person, Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi said, "They are not farmers, but hooligans. This is clearly a criminal act, just like the actions of January 26. The opposition is adding fuel to the fire by encouraging such criminal actions. These actions should be investigated, as they are criminal in nature."

Commenting on the incident where TMC MP Shantanu Sen snatched documents from IT Minister Ashwini Vaishaw's hand and publicly tore them, Meenakshi Lekhi said that the standards of parties like TMC and Congress have fallen so low that they have no concern for the prestige and integrity of the country, even after being the country's chief political opposition. A Rajya Sabha member today snatched papers from the hands of a minister, who was about to give a speech. The behavior of TMC MPs is shameful.

Meenakshi Lekhi said, 'What a TMC member did in Rajya Sabha today is shameful. Congress and TMC are succeeding in creating false narratives. I refute the false propaganda being spread by Congress and TMC. Amnesty have washed their hands on this, saying that they have nothing to do with this list.'

Pegasus Controversy

Apart from this incident, Meenakshi Lekhi also expressed her opinion on the Pegasus 'Spyware' controversy, by calling it fake news. She questioned whether the opposition behaves here in the same way it behaves in its ruling states. She blamed the opposition for not letting the Parliament function properly. Efforts are being made to demean Indian institutions. Democracy is being demeaned by the opposition in Parliament.

She said that Pegasus spy report is only meant to defame India and that it is fake and totally incorrect. The opposition is disrupting the proceedings of the Parliament. The agencies investigating the matter have no evidence. Names of 10 countries have been disclosed in the list, but in no country is the matter being escalated the way it is being escalated in India by the opposition.
