‘No Vaccine, No Entry’ Order Issued In Maharashtra's Ahmednagar On Christmas, New Year Celebrations

It is mandatory for people visiting areas, including private establishments, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, cinemas, and more places to have at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine

Pune: In view of the sudden spurt in Covid-19 infections in Maharashtra, the Ahmednagar district administration on Friday issued a ‘no vaccine, no entry’ order covering various areas, including private establishments, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, cinemas, auditoriums, marriage halls, agriculture markets, and events.

The order has been issued by Collector Rajendra Bhosale, according to the news agency PTI.

The restrictions to be imposed from Saturday ahead of the New Year celebrations have made it mandatory for people visiting the above places to have at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and follow pandemic appropriate behaviour, according to an official.

Meanwhile, a woman having a travel history to Nigeria tested positive for the Omicron variant of Covid-19 in Srirampur tehsil of the district, said Bhosale.

In fact, 19 students more students have been found infected at a residential school in Takali Dhokeshwar village in Parner tehsil for Covid-19 over the last three to four days.

“There are over 400 students from Classes V to XII in the residential school. All 19 students who have tested positive are hospitalised. They are stable and there is nothing to worry about,” he added.

With the rise in the Omicron cases, the Maharashtra government on Friday banned the assembly of more than five persons in public places between 9 pm and 6 am. The Uddhav Thackeray-led government also capped the number of people allowed in wedding events and religious programmes as well as in gyms and movie halls.

Health Ministry data from Friday showed 122 new Omicron cases were reported in the past 24 hours on Friday. India's Omicron caseload crossed 100 exactly one week ago and it crossed 200 on Tuesday.

Gyms, spas, hotels, theatres, and cinema halls will be allowed to run at 50 per cent capacity while sports events will be allowed to have 25 per cent occupancy, the guidelines, which will come into effect from midnight, said.
