No Case Of Hate Speech Made Out Against Wrestlers: Delhi Police Tells Court

Delhi Police has said that no case of hate speech is made out against wrestlers as claimed in the complaint by Bam Bam Maharaj. The police have filed an action taken report in the Patiala House Court.

The Delhi police on Friday said that no case of hate speech is made out against wrestlers as said in a complaint filed with them. The police filed the status report in Patiala House Court and the court has taken the report on record. In its report, the police said that there no case of hate speech is made out against the wrestlers during their protest at Jantar Mantar. Police relied on the video clip presented by the complainant Bam Bam Maharaj claiming that the slogan 'Modi teri kabr khudegi' was raised by some Sikh protesters. 

“The complainant has also provided a Pen drive containing video clip of this news and Protest wherein some unknown sikh protesters are seen in the video clip raising slogans 'Modi teri kabr khudegi ,aaj nahi to kal khudegi'," the police said.

They added, "In this regard it is submitted that on perusal of video clip provided by the complainant in Pen drive it has been revealed that some unknown sikh protesters are seen in the video clip who are raising slogans at Jantar Mantar Protest site that ‘Modi teri kabr khudegi’. From the contents of the complaint and video clip provided by the complainant no cognizable offence of hate speech is made out." 

"The protester wrestlers Sh. Bajrang Punia, Ms. Vinesh Phogat and other wrestlers are not seen raising any such slogan in this clip. Therefore, it is requested that this Hon'ble Court that this Complaint may be filed please be dismissed. The undersigned shall comply with the directions/orders if any passed by this Hon'ble Court," the police concluded in the status report submission. 

Patiala House Court fixed the next hearing of the matter for July 7 for arguments. 

Apart from this, the police said that as far as the two other complaints filed by Bam Bam Maharaj (in which he said that Brijbhushan Sharan Singh was falsely accused without concrete evidence), those complaints were forwarded to the Connaught Place police station where two FIRs have been lodged by the wrestlers.
