Nitish Kumar Won’t Be Able To Save His Election Deposit: Sushil Modi Challenges Bihar CM To Contest LS Poll From UP

Sushil Kumar Modi challenged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to run for Lok Sabha from anywhere in Uttar Pradesh, claiming that he would be unable to save his election deposit.

New Delhi: Former Bihar deputy chief minister and Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi challenged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to contest Lok Sabha elections from anywhere in Uttar Pradesh, claiming he would be unable to save his election deposit.

Sushil Modi's comments came a day after Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav offered Kumar a seat in the Lok Sabha from UP's Phoolpur, reports news agency ANI.

"Akhilesh Yadav wants Nitish ji to visit Uttar Pradesh and lose his election deposit. Everyone is aware that Akhilesh Yadav does not have a candidate in his own state. He had an alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the last Lok Sabha elections, which later broke down, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won with 62 seats," Sushil Kumar told ANI.

"Nitish Kumar should run for Lok Sabha from Phoolpur, but if he fails to save a deposit there, he should return to Bihar as a candidate who lost his deposit in the election. Leave Phoolpur and run for office anywhere in Uttar Pradesh; I challenge Nitish Kumar to not save a deposit in the election,” he further said.

The former deputy chief minister once again attacked the JDU-RJD government over the state of law and order in Bihar, saying, "The incidents that took place in Chhapra (where two police officers were hurt after being attacked by criminals in the vicinity of Mufassil Police Station), in Katihar (where several police officers were hurt on Saturday after a group of villagers attacked Pranpur police station following the death of a man allegedly in custody), and in Muzaffarpur three days ago, were far more inhumane than what used to happen during the Lalu Raj."

"When a shopkeeper refused to pay Rs 1.5 crore, five men went to his shop and threw out all of his employees after locking the shop," he said.

Sushil Modi also claimed that Nitish Kumar is unable to control the situation in Bihar at the moment. "The situation is beyond his control; the crime cannot be stopped because Nitish Kumar is unconcerned about becoming Prime Minister in Bihar. What does this incident indicate? Such incidents occur on a daily basis in Bihar".

He went on to claim that the people of Bihar are now terrified that Lalu Raj has returned to the state.
