Newly inaugurated Delhi-Meerut expressway damaged after first spell of showers
The Delhi-Meerut expressway was inaugurated just a month ago by Prime Minister Modi with a spectacular road-show.
New Delhi: The pre-monsoon showers in Delhi have exposed the debility of the newly inaugurated Delhi-Meerut expressway.
A crack appeared on the side of the expressway and then a portion of the road sunk in. As per the reports, the engineers working on the reconstruction of the road have blamed the water from the drains for the breaking down of the road.
The underpass that has been made for the Delhi-Meerut expressway also revealed a poor engineering as a good amount of water got impounded in the underpass after a light rainfall. It is becoming an ordeal for the people to cross the road.
The Delhi-Meerut expressway that got damaged after the very first showers has put a question mark on the quality of the construction work.
It is pertinent to note that the Delhi-Meerut expressway was inaugurated just a month ago on May 27, hours before the inauguration of the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, by Prime Minister Modi with a spectacular road-show.

The expressway was constructed with an aim to significantly reduce the distance between Delhi and Meerut and to bring a respite to Delhi's commuters. However, how functional will it remain during the monsoon remains doubtful.
