EWS Residents Of Gurugram's Green View Society Say They Have 'No Clue' About Refund Or Shifting

The residents of Green View society in Gurugram have been asked to vacate the apartment building over safety concerns. The residents will have to vacate by March 1, 2022.

New Delhi: The Gurugram District Administration has instructed people to vacate the "unsafe" Green View Society developed by stated-owned NBCC during a meeting on Thursday. However, the residents still do not know where they are supposed to go and how much will be compensation will be given to them.

Nishant Yadav, Gurugram District Collector, said on Thursday, "The NBCC surveyed its society and it was found that the building is unsafe and should be vacated by March 1. The NBCC will bear the cost of shifting the residents."

Another resident said that the action is being initiated after the Chintels building collapsed recently.

Nishant Yadav during Thursday's meeting also said that the Government of India enterprise, i.e. the NBCC, will provide alternate accommodation and also rent for those willing to move to an apartment of the same parameters.

The residents of Green View society in Gurugram have been asked to vacate the apartment building over safety concerns. Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav issued the order after a meeting with the National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC). The residents will have to vacate by March 1, 2022.

The DPRO Gurugram has assured that the expenses will be borne by the NBCC, ANI reported.

The decision has been taken as the Green View building in Sector 37D, Gurugram, was deemed unsafe last year after a structural audit by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. It was also announced earlier that the housing society with over 700 flats, constructed by the state-owned NBCC (India) Ltd, will be demolished.

Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav, along with the DPRO Gurugram, met the residents of Green View society to address their safety concerns of the residents. The decision comes days after two women died when a portion of the roof of Chintels Paradiso housing complex in Gurugram's Sector 109 collapsed last week.
