New Delhi: Navroz literally translates to 'New Day' and it is celebrated as the Parsi new year, being the first day of the Zoroastrian calendar. Origin & Significance
Legend has it that Persian King Jamshed saved the world from a winter apocalypse. He rose to heaven using his gem-studded throne, on the back of the demon he shone as bright as the sun annihilating the darkness. The King is credited to have created the Zoroastrian calendar and hence, this day after the defeat of the apocalypse marks a new day, a new beginning that brings hope and prosperity.

President Ram Nath Kovind sent his wishes for Parsis and wrote, "The contribution of the Parsi community in nation-building and development is a matter of inspiration and pride for all of us."
