My Resignation Is Permanently With Sonia Gandhi, Says Rajasthan CM Gehlot Amid Rejig Buzz

Rajasthan: His statement comes days after Sachin Pilot, who is also a contender for CM, met Sonia Gandhi on Thursday.

New Delhi: Amidst the talks of a revamp in the Rajasthan cabinet, CM Ashok Gehlot said on Saturday that his resignation is already submitted to Sonia Gandhi and when a change in leadership will come into effect in the state, nobody will even get to know about it, news agency ANI reported.

“My resignation is permanently present with Sonia Gandhi, so there is no point in repeatedly asking if the CM is going to change. The Chief Minister will change when it has to be changed and no one will get to know anything about it,” Gehlot said.

His statement comes days after Sachin Pilot, who is also a contender for CM, met Sonia Gandhi on Thursday.

After the meeting, Pilot told reporters, “In the last 30 years, it has been a tradition in Rajasthan that every five years there’s a government change. If we do the right things, which we have started to do, as the committee of the AITC that was formed two years ago on which some steps have been taken in the right direction. We need to move forward in that direction to make sure that Congress wins the 2023 polls in Rajasthan. It is very important because soon after that we have Lok Sabha elections.”

Pilot had rebelled against Gehlot last year with some other MLAs and camped in Haryana, however, he returned to the party after the Gandhi family reassured him that the grievances of the ‘rebel MLAs’ will be resolved by a three-member committee led by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Meanwhile, sources told news agency ANI, “Leadership change in Rajasthan Congress is expected soon. The final decision is likely to be taken soon in view of Assembly elections in 2023. Timely intervention is important in the state of Rajasthan. If any decision of changes has to take place it should be taken immediately. It is important to take a decision timely. So that leaders can get the time to perform better and there could be no issues at the end moment.”
