Mumbai-Bound Indigo Flight Receives Bomb Threat At Kolkata Airport

An IndiGo flight (6E 5227) scheduled to depart from Kolkata to Mumbai received a bomb threat just before takeoff on Tuesday, prompting immediate security measures. A passenger reportedly alerted authorities about the threat, following which the aircraft was promptly moved to an isolation bay at Kolkata airport in accordance with established safety protocols. All the necessary checks were then conducted and the standard operations were followed.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) began an inquiry. The flight is now at the Kolkata airport.

"IndiGo flight 6E 5227 operating from Kolkata to Mumbai received a bomb threat prior to departure. In accordance with security protocols, the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay at Kolkata airport.  All necessary checks were conducted, and the standard operating procedures were followed. We thank our passengers for their patience and cooperation," IndiGo said in a statement.

"The safety and security of our customers, crew, and aircraft remain our top priority," the aicraft further added.

According to news agency ANI,PRO Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport said that a passenger was travelling in an IndiGo flight from Imphal to Mumbai. During the security check in Kolkata, the passenger asked, "Do I have a bomb?" On hearing this, the security forces checked him and handed him over to the police.

Bomb Threat At Maharashtra Secretariat

Earlier in the day, an email warning of a bomb blast was received at the Mantralaya, administrative headquarters of the Maharashtra government situated in south Mumbai, police said on Tuesday, reports news agency PTI. According to the report, the anonymous email received by the official posted at the Disaster Management Control Room on Monday evening said there would be a blast within 48 hours but did not mention any place. Police conducted a search of the sprawling complex but nothing suspicious was found.

As the threat came against the  background of the India-Pakistan military conflict, Mumbai Police are on high alert and security at prominent locations across Mumbai was beefed up as a precautionary measures, a police official said. The Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) was also alerted, he said, adding that a case was registered at the Marine Drive Police Station.Efforts are on to track down the sender through the IP address, he added.
