Mumbai: 'Acche Din' was Manmohan Singh's quote, we are saddle with it, says Nitin Gadkari

Mumbai: The Union Minister Nitin Gadkari today jokingly said that the BJP was saddled with the phrase "Acche Din" (good days) and credited Manmohan Singh for using it first. At an event in Mumbai, Gadkari said Prime Minister Narendra Modi borrowed it from his predecessor. While responding to a question at an event organized by the newspaper Lokmat Times, Gadkari said, when Manmohan Singh was PM, he used it, and now it is stuck to BJP so much that everyone shouts, when will there be "Acche Din". It is a bone stuck in our throat, he said and added India is such an ocean of dissatisfied souls that "Acche Din" can never come. It may be recalled that the promise of Acche Din was a top keyword in BJP's campaign for the national election (2014). However, the phrase has since been mocked by opposition parties and BJP critics to target the government on what they call unfulfilled promises. It may be also be recalled that recently, comedian Kapil Sharma used the phrase sarcastically while alleging corruption in Mumbai's civic body. He tweeted tagging PM Narendra Modi.
