Morbi Lawyers Refuse To Represent 9 Accused In Bridge Collapse Case

The Morbi Bar Association and Rajkot Bar Association have decided to not represent the nine accused arrested in the Gujarat bridge collapse tragedy.

The lawyers' body in Morbi has refused to represent the nine accused arrested in the bridge collapse case in Gujarat which has claimed the lives of over 130 people. According to news agency ANI, AC Prajapati, senior advocate for Morbi Bar Association said, "Nine accused (of Oreva co.) in the Morbi Bridge Collapse have been arrested. Morbi Bar Association and Rajkot Bar Association have decided to not take their case and represent them. Both the Bar Associations have passed this Resolution."

A century-old suspension bridge over Machcu river in Gujarat’s Morbi city collapsed on Sunday evening claiming the lives of over 130 people. 

Nine people were arrested on Monday evening in connection with the incident, including officials from watch manufacturer Oreva, who was tasked with the renovation of the bridge. Among those arrested include two managers, two repair contractors, three security guards and two ticket sellers, sources told ABP News.
