Last month the Bengaluru police did not allow Munawar Faruqui to do standup comedy shows due to protests by some Hindu outfits. He was accused of hurting Hindu religious sentiments in one of his shows, a claim which Munawar firmly denied.
Earlier this year on January 1, Munawar Faruqui along with five other stand up comedians were arrested in Indore for allegedly making indecent comments against Hindu gods and Union Home Minister Amit Shah
The arrested comedians included Munawar Faruqui, Edvin Anthony, Prakhar Vyas, Priyam Vyas and Nalin Yadav.
Faruqui was released from Indore Central jail on February 7 after the Supreme Court granted him interim bail
