Heavy Rain Lashes Parts Of Delhi After Long Delay; Brings Respite From Soaring Temperatures

Heavy rains lashed several parts of the national capital, bringing respite from soaring temperatures.

New Delhi: After days of delay, the Southwest monsoon finally reached Delhi on Tuesday morning, allowing the citizens to breathe a sigh of relief from the scorching heat. Heavy rains lashed several parts of the national capital, bringing respite from soaring temperatures.

Meanwhile, many reports have emerged stating waterlogging at the AIIMS flyover as a result of heavy rain in the national capital.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in the city today will be 25.0 degrees Celcius, while the maximum temperature is unlikely to go beyond 33.0 degrees Celcius.

The maximum temperature Tuesday is likely to hover around 33 degrees Celsius, few notches below the high of 37.7 degrees Celsius recorded Monday. However, the relative humidity Tuesday morning was at a high of 100 percent.

Meanwhile, ANI report quoted K Jenamani, a senior scientist at the IMD saying that the weather conditions continue to remain favourable for the arrival of monsoon in the capital.

The city has received 24.8 mm rainfall on Tuesday so far. According to the standard operating procedure, the monsoon onset is declared on the basis of the rainfall reported in the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am, an IMD official earlier said according to PTI.
