Modi Jharkhand Visit: PM To Hold Road Show, Launch Projects And Visit Birsa Munda's Birth Place

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Jharkhand where he will inaugurate developmental projects, hold a roadshow, and visit Birsa Munda's birth place.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday will embark on a two-day visit to Jharkhand where he will undertake a roadshow and launch developmental projects. The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport on Tuesday evening where he will be welcomed by Governor C P Radhakrishnan and Chief Minister Hemant Soren, reported news agency PTI.

In Ranchi, the PM will hold a roadshow where workers and leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party will greet Modi at 10 locations along the route. 

He would also visit Bhagwan Birsa Munda Memorial Park-cum-Freedom Fighter Museum in Ranchi, and then take a chopper to Birsa Munda's birthplace Ulihatu village in Khunti district, where Modi will pay floral tributes to the freedom fighter.

On Wednesday, he will launch developmental projects worth Rs 24,000 crore aimed at Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) on the occasion of 'Janjatiya Gaurav Divas', officials told the news agency.

Under 'Pradhan Mantri Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PM PVTG) Mission'  basic facilities such as road and telecom connectivity, electricity, safe housing, clean drinking water and sanitation, improved access to education, health and nutrition and sustainable livelihood opportunities will be provided to areas with PVTG habitations which are mostly remote, scattered and inaccessible, it said.

He will also launch the 'Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra' and release the 15th instalment of Rs 18,000 crore under the PM-KISAN scheme. 

He will also lay the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 7,200 crore in the state  in sectors such as rail, road, education, coal, petroleum and natural gas. 

The projects include four-laning of 52-km stretch of Mahagama-Hansdiha section of NH-133, four-laning of 45-km stretch of Basukinath-Deoghar section of NH-114 A, KDH-Purnadih Coal Handling Plant and a new academic and administrative building of IIIT Ranchi.

The projects that would be inaugurated include the new campus of IIM Ranchi, new hostel of IIT-ISM Dhanbad, Petroleum Oil and Lubricants (POL) depot in Bokaro, doubling of railway tracks in the Hatia-Pakra, Talgaria-Bokaro and Jarangdih-Patratu sections.

During a poll rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul on Tuesday, Modi said he would launch a scheme worth Rs 24,000 crore for the welfare of tribals in the country on Wednesday on the occasion of Bhagwan Birsa Munda's birth anniversary.

“Tomorrow is Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, I will go to Jharkhand to pay respect to (tribal icon) Bhagwan Birsa Munda. The entire country will celebrate Bhagwan Birsa Munda's jayanti and the Centre will announce a scheme worth Rs 24,000 crore for the welfare of tribals,” the PM said.
