Minor Reshuffle In Jammu And Kashmir Police Department Announced. Details Inside

In accordance with the official order, Rakesh Balwal, who was recently repatriated to the Manipur cadre, has been formally relieved of his duties as the Senior Superintendent of Police in Srinagar.

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday implemented a minor reshuffle in the Police Department. In accordance with the official order, Rakesh Balwal, who was recently repatriated to the Manipur cadre, has been formally relieved of his duties as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Srinagar. He has been succeeded by Ashish Kumar Mishra.

The order stated, "In pursuance of the approval of the Competent Authority for the premature repatriation of Shri Rakesh Balwal, IPS (MA: 2012) from AGMUT cadre to his parent cadre, i.e., Manipur cadre, the officer is relieved from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to enable him to join his parent cadre."

It further noted, "...in the interest of administration, the transfers and postings are hereby ordered with immediate effect: Shri Ashish Kumar Mishra, Senior Superintendent of Police, Anantnag, is transferred and posted as Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar, and Shri G.V Sandeep Chakravarthy is transferred and posted as Senior Superintendent of Police, Anantnag, replacing Shri Ashish Kumar Mishra."

Ashish Mishra (IPS 2013), the newly appointed SSP Srinagar, has extensive field experience in the Kashmir Valley, having served as a Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) in Sopore, Superintendent of Police (SP) in South City Srinagar, and SSP in Handwara, Pulwama, and Anantnag. Mishra is known for his professionalism, integrity, and objectivity.

Sandeep Chakraverti (IPS 2014), the recently appointed SSP Anantnag, has also served in the Kashmir Valley in a variety of roles, including SDPO in Sopore, SP in South City Srinagar, and SSP in Handwara, Kupwara, and Kulgam. Sandeep is well-known for his dedication and contributions to counter-insurgency operations.

Earlier in the day, to eliminate "remaining terrorists," Jammu and Kashmir Police said that they have upgraded 21 police stations across the Union Territory and provided them with all the latest weaponry. DGP Dilbagh Singh said at a passing out parade in STC Sheeri Baramulla that 21 police stations have been strengthened and equipped with the latest gadgets and other facilities to combat terrorism.

According to the J&K Police Chief, 2,500 officers have been trained to deal with cybercrime and the threats it poses.
