Mamata Writes To PM Modi Again, Warns Of Consequences If Bengal's Vaccine Supply Not Increased

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, in a letter to PM Modi, said that West Bengal needs about 14 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine. 

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has once again complained about the shortage of Coronavirus vaccine in West Bengal in her letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi lately. The TMC supremo, in her letter, said that if the supply of vaccine in West Bengal is not increased, the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic could turn serious.

Mamata Banerjee said West Bengal needs about 14 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccines. 

Banerjee had also raised the issue of shortage of Covid-19 vaccine during her meeting with PM Modi in New Delhi days back. This was informed by Bengal CM after her meeting with PM.

In Bengal, 826 new Covid cases were confirmed on Wednesday whereas, 10 patients lost their lives. So far, 15,30,850 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the state and 18,180 patients have died.

Meanwhile, the CM today held a meeting of the Global Advisory Board in view of the threat of the third wave of Covid-19. Nobel laureate Abhijit Banerjee was also present at the meeting. After the meeting, CM Mamata said that her government is considering reopening schools at intervals of one day each after Durga Puja holidays later this year.

Banerjee further pointed out that states like Gujarat, UP, Karnataka have received adequate Covid-19 vaccines. "I don't discriminate among people. Bengal has received fewer vaccines according to the density of the population. I request the Centre and PM Modi not to discriminate between states," she said.
