Thane: While death is a saddening and tragic subject, it can sometimes be a part of unintentional comedy as well. In a bizarre incident, a man in Maharashtra's Thane region received a call from the civic body to collect his death certificate.

This may seem to be coming from a scene in a sitcom but it has happened in reality. The man who received the call, Chandrashekhar Desai, revealed the incident to the media.

"I received a call from Thane Municipal Corporation to collect my death certificate," Chandrashekhar Desai said as reported by news agency ANI.

Responding to this, Thane Municipal Corporation's Deputy Commissioner said: "We got this list from Pune office as we don't prepare it".

"It was a technical error as his name appeared in the list of deaths. We've instructed our team to verify the list and then call people for follow-up," he added.

While Chandrashekhar Desai and his family might have been taken aback by this "technical error", the incident can end up becoming an inspiration for a funny scene in a film.
