Maharashtra Issues Fresh Covid-19 Guidelines: Theatres, Private Offices To Operate At 50% Capacity - Check New Rules

Fresh curbs by Maharashtra government comes a day after the state recorded over 25,000 Coronavirus cases, making it the highest daily surge ever since the pandemic broke in March 2020.

Mumbai: On the backdrop of significantly rising number of daily Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra, the Uddhav Thackeray-led state government on Friday issued fresh guidelines to contain the spread of the deadly contagion. The new measure announced by the government will be applicable in the state till March 31, 2021.

As per the new guidelines, all drama theatres and auditoriums in the state will now operate at 50 per cent capacity and no entry will be allowed without proper wearing of face masks.

The new rules also state that authorities will have to ensure that all Covid-19 protocols are being followed at such premises. The order also says that all private offices in the state, except healthcare and essential services, will also operate at 50 per cent capacity.

In case of government and semi-government workplaces, the head of the office will take decision related to staff attendance ensuring adherence to all Covid-19 protocols. The rules, however, states that manufacturing sector can function will full capacity.

As stated by Chief Minister Thackeray and Health Minister Rajesh Tope earlier, the fatality rate is low in the current wave, however, high number of daily cases poses a serious concern in the state.

Including Thursday's sugre in Coronavirus infections took Maharashtra's overall caseload to 23,96,340 with 58 fatalities, taking a total death toll to 53,138. In terms of recoveries, 12,764 patients were discharged from hospitals on Thursday, the highest in one-day this year with overall recovery standing at 21,75,565. The data also reveals that there are 1,66,353 active cases in the state.
