Maharashtra ATS To Probe Mukesh Ambani's Antilia Bomb Scare Case As Explosive-Laden SUV Owner Found Dead

A Scorpio car with as many as 20 gelatin sticks inside was found near 'Antilia', Ambani's multi-storey residence in South Mumbai, on February 25. Police had said it had been stolen from Airoli-Mulund Bridge on February 18.

Mumbai: The investigation into the abandoned SUV found outside industrialist Mukesh Ambani's house last month will now be taken over by the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said on Friday. He also stated tha the explosive-laden Scorpio car which was found outside Antilia last month does not belong to Hiren Mansukh, but another person identified as Sam.

Earlier in the day, Mansukh, whom Mumbai Police mentioned to be the owner of vehicle with explosives was found dead in a creek in neighboring Thane.

As per a senior Police officer, Mansukh, around 45 years old, went missing on Thursday night and his body was found on the banks of the creek along the Mumbra Reti Bunder road.

Police had said it had been stolen from Airoli-Mulund Bridge on February 18. The Crime Branch of Mumbai, which is investigating the case, had also recorded Mansukh's statement.

A vehicle spare parts businessman, Manshukh, had said he had lodged a police complaint after the SUV was stolen. On Friday his family members approached Naupada Police Station in Thane saying he had gone missing.

Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Devendra Fadnavis said the death of a prime witness showed that something was fishy. "I reiterate the demand that the case be handed over to the NIA," the BJP leader said.

Deshmukh also said that Mansukh's body bore no injury marks. Autopsy report was awaited, and Maharashtra Police were perfectly capable of investigating the case.
