Mahant Narendra Giri Given 'Bhu-Samadhi' At The Banks Of Sangam In Prayagraj
Mahant Narendra Giri has been buried next to his Guru at the banks of Sangam in Prayagraj.
New Delhi: Mahant Narendra Giri, who was the president of the largest organisation of sadhus in India was given 'bhu-samadhi' on Wednesday afternoon at the banks of Sangam in Prayagraj. The seer was buried near the lemon tree on the seat next to Guruji, as requested by him in the suicide letter.
Mahant Giri was found hanging at Baghambari Math in Prayagraj on Monday.
The sudden demise of revered spiritual leader Mahant Narendra Giri, under mysterious circumstances, sent shockwaves across the country.
Police recovered a handwritten suicide note from the Math which contained the names of three people including Mahant Narendra Giri’s disciple Anand Giri.
Anand Giri was taken into custody by UP Police in connection to his name appearing on the suicide note.
Narendra Giri also requested the math to consider Mahant Balveer Giri as his successor.
According to the suicide note accessed by ABP News, he wrote in the letter, "I request Param Pujya Mahant Hari Govind Puri ji to make Mahant Balveer Giri my successor. Ashutosh and Nitesh all mahatmas are requested to support Balveer."
The Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday constituted an 18-member SIT to probe the death of Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad president Mahant Narendra Giri and detained a disciple of the seer in Haridwar.
A postmortem was conducted on Wednesday morning to determine the cause of death and reports are still awaited.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said all aspects related to the death are being investigated and the guilty will not be spared.
Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya too said his government is ready for every kind of investigation into the matter.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has demanded a judicial probe by a sitting high court judge.
A plea seeking a CBI probe into the death was also sent to the chief justice of the Allahabad High Court.
