UP Lok Sabha by-poll: RLD leads by 55,000 votes in Kairana
As per the latest trend RLD, going strong with the support of Samajwadi Party, is leading in Kairana by 25,000 votes.
New Delhi: As counting of votes continues for the four Lok Sabha seats, the early trends showed RLD surging ahead of others in the politically crucial Kairana Lok Sabha constituency of Uttar Pradesh, while BJP maintains a lead in Maharashtra's Palghar.
As per the latest trend RLD, going strong with the support of Samajwadi Party, is leading in Kairana with 55,000 votes. BJP’s Mriganka Singh is trailing behind.
As per earlier trends, RLD's Tabassum Hassan was leading with 25,000 votes.
As Hassan gradually inches towards victory in Kairana, in her talk with ABP News she said: "BJP will lose the upcoming elections too. It will get 3 out of 80 seats."
The initial trends, however, had shown BJP surging ahead.
Trends showed BJP's Mriganka Singh leading from Thana Bhawan with 46 votes but overall RLD lags behind in Kairana.
The Kairana result will be a litmus test for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as a positive outcome is necessary for the saffron party to maintain its majority in the Lok Sabha. It is a joint opposition versus the ruling BJP. The constituency fell vacant after the death of BJP MP Hukum Singh, whose daughter Mriganka Singh is now the party's candidate for the by-poll. She is fighting Rashtriya Lok Dal's (RLD) Tabassum Hasan, who is supported by the Congress, Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party. Tabassum is a member of Samajwadi party but is contesting with the ticket of RLD.#KairanaByElection: RLD's Tabassum Hassan takes lead, BJP's Mriganka Singh trails behind
