Telangana Minister Konda Surekha Stirs Row Again, Says 'KTR Responsible For KCR's Absence'
Surekha also urged her Congress members to consider filing a missing person's complaint for former CM K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).
Telangana Minister Konda Surekha has sparked controversy once again, this time with comments suggesting that senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao may be responsible for the alleged absence of his father, K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), from public appearances.
According to NDTV, Surekha speaking in Gajwel, the constituency of the former Telangana Chief Minister, urged her party members in the Congress to consider filing a missing person's report for KCR.
This remark follows the backlash she faced for her earlier comments linking BRS leader KT Rama Rao to the divorce of popular actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya. The minister had accused Rama Rao of playing a role in their separation, which prompted a sharp response from both the actors and the Telugu film industry.
Samantha and Naga Chaitanya condemned the minister for politicising their personal matter, emphasising that their divorce was a mutual and private decision. Veteran actor Nagarjuna, Chaitanya's father, even took legal action against Surekha for defamation following her remarks.
The controversy was boiled down after Telangana Congress requested film industry to put an end to the issue. In her apology, Surekha said, "I had to criticise him (Rama Rao). I do not have any personal animosity towards anyone. Taking the name of a family was inadvertent."
It may be recalled that former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao fell down in his farmhouse and suffered a fracture. Following this, he underwent a left Total Hip Replacement surgery at a private super-specialty hospital in Hyderabad. After the surgery, PM Modi wished a speedy recovery for BRS leader. CM Revanth Reddy also ordered to ensure best medical care for KCR.
He was recognised as the Leader of Opposition in Telangana Assembly in his absence after the surgery.
Only after months of recovery, KCR visited the Assembly to a rousing welcome by the party members.
