Kolkata: No, Arsalan is not serving beef mixed with mutton; 'Don't spread rumours', say police
The Kolkata Police have rubbished those messages as "fake" and "rumours" in which it was claimed that Kolkata's popular Biryani joint Arsalan is selling beef mixed with mutton.
KOLKATA: The Kolkata Police have rubbished those 'reports' as "fake" and "rumours" in which it was claimed that Kolkata's popular Biryani joint Arsalan is selling beef mixed with mutton.
A message that went viral across the social media platforms alleged that a "municipal food inspector" during a raid at the "famous" Arsalan Hotel, located in Park Circus in the West Bengal's capital, has found that the joint was serving "beef mixed with mutton".
“Today! famous Arsalan Hotel in 7 point crossing Park Circus...Municipal Food Inspector with local authorities raided...Found Beef being mixed with Mutton,” the message claimed.
Discarding all such claims, Kolkata Police have urged people not to believe in "rumours" as there was "no truth in them".
It has also warned those spreading fake news on social media platforms to "stir up tension over food in the city amd said it will deal with such people "firmly".
"Do not believe in rumours. No truth in them. Those spreading #FakeNews rumours on FB/Twitter/Whatsapp to stir up tension over food in restaurants in #Kolkata will be dealt with firmly. High level committee appointed by State Govt examining matter. Stop rumours. Thank you," the Kolkata Police tweeted.
The police had last week busted a racket involved in supplying decomposed meat from dumping grounds to restaurants in and around the city. They seized nearly 20 tonne of rotten meat, meant to be supplied to restaurants, from a cold storage in central Kolkata.Do not believe in rumours. No truth in them.
