Kerala flood: Centre to provide all possible help, assures Rajnath

The centre had earlier approved Rs80 crore of fund relief to Kerala after Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju’s tour of the state

New Delhi: Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday assured all possible assistance from centre to Kerala for controlling the flood situation in the state. Speaking on the issue in the lower house of the parliament during the Zero Hour, he said that he tried speaking to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, but “it could not happen”. After the session, HM spoke to media personnel over the same and said, “I spoke to Kerala CM, he is fully satisfied with the assistance of the central government and he has told me that every department is cooperating well. If he needs any other assistance he will inform me”. The centre had earlier approved Rs80 crore of fund relief to Kerala after Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju’s tour of the state. Speaking on the then situation, Kiren Rijiju had said, “We have already deployed Army, Navy and other central armed forces in Kerala and the state government and the ministries are jointly working in this regard”. Till now, 27 people have been reported to have lost their lives due to the Kerala floods over the last 48 hours.
