KCR To Meet Uddhav, Mamata In Move To Unite Oppn Parties Against Modi-Led NDA Govt
KCR added that he may go to Mumbai anytime soon to meet Thackeray while Banerjee is expected to come to Hyderabad to meet him.
New Delhi: In a bid to unite various political parties against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the NDA government, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday said that he would soon have meetings with his Maharashtra and West Bengal counterparts Uddhav Thackeray and Mamata Banerjee.
KCR added that he may go to Mumbai anytime soon to meet Thackeray while Banerjee is expected to come to Hyderabad to meet him.
Accusing the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government for its alleged anti-people policies, KCR said that he would play a major role in uniting anti-BJP political parties.
He continued his tirade saying that there was corruption in Rafale fighter planes deal and that he would move the Supreme Court to bring out the truth.
“Mamata Banerjee called me. We had a discussion over phone. She invited me to Bengal or she'll come to Hyderabad. She said ‘Mujhe Dosa kilao’. I said most welcome. She may come any time. We are discussing. There are so many political leaders across the nation,” KCR said when asked if he is still mooting the idea of non-BJP, non-Congress Front, as quoted by news agency PTI.
“Mr Uddhav Thackeray is also waiting. They are waiting for me. I have to go to Mumbai. Once this Sri Ramanujacharya function is over, I think I may go to Mumbai any time,” he added.
However, KCR did not give a direct reply if he plans to lead the opposition parties but said that he would play a major role in that.
KCR said although he had met several opposition leaders and CMs ahead of the 2019 general elections, things went in a different way with BJP coming back to power. So, there is no firm plan as to how the opposition unity would take shape in future, he said.
Lashing out at the NDA government, KCR said that the country is filled with religious emotions which is not desirable. This is uncalled for and not good for the country, he said.
Levelling graft charges against the government in the Rafale deals, KCR said there was corruption to the tune of thousands of crores of rupees, adding that the same Rafale jets were bought by the Indonesian Government at lesser price. We will also file a case in Supreme Court and bring out the theft, he said.
Extending support to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who demanded proof on the surgical strike, KCR said that half of the country, including himself, wants to know the truth.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday, KCR also spoke on the ongoing hijab controversy saying it is not desirable. “What if the communal fire spreads to the entire country? What we need is development, investments, not communal riots daily,” he said.
He also alleged that the Centre is exerting pressure on the state government to implement draft power reforms, even before they are passed by the Parliament and become an Act.
"It is constitutional violence. Even before the law is passed, they are trying to enforce it. It is an insult to the Parliament. It is cheating the people of this country,” KCR said, adding that Telangana will not implement the reforms proposed by the Central government.
KCR also took a dig saying Modi openly campaigned for former US president Donald Trump during his 2019 Howdy Modi' programme in Houston.
"Is the US election some Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation election? How can Modi give a call for Abki baar Trump sarkar' from US soil? he said, adding that India has lost its respect after Trump's defeat.
The Telangana Chief Minister also demanded that the Constitution has to be changed so as to increase the reservation to Dalits whose population has gone up to 19 per cent in the country.
