Karnataka Suspends Entry Of People From 5 States Over Covid-19 Scare; Check List Here

While announcing the decision, a government official informed that no trains or flights from these five states will be allowed to enter or land in Karnataka till further orders.

Bengaluru: In order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in the state, BS Yediyurappa-led Karnataka government on Thursday restricted entry of people coming from as many as five states of the country. According to reports, the decision was taken during a cabinet meeting earlier in the day. While announcing the decision, a government official informed that no trains or flights from these five states will be allowed to enter or land in Karnataka till further orders. He also said that people from these states will not be allowed to enter Karnataka by road as well. These five states are: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.  Reportedly, domestic air travel returnees from two states have increased Covid-19 cases in Karnataka in the past 19 hours. Cities including Udupi, Hassan, Chitradurga and Bengaluru Urban have seen a sudden jump in Coronavirus cases. WATCH REPORT | Karnataka Suspends Flight Operations From 5 States A total of 46 out of 75 cases are returnees from neighboring Maharashtra, six from Tamil Nadu, two from Telangana, one each from Kerala, Delhi. One person is with international travel history from UAE, news agency PTI reported. Remaining cases include, seven- who are contacts of patients already tested positive, one with the history of SARI while 10 patients' contact history is still under tracing. Seventy-five new cases of Coronavirus have been confirmed in Karnataka, taking the total number of infections in the state to 2,493, the state Health Department said on Thursday. With 47 deaths and 809 discharges, there are 1,635 active corona cases in the state, the department said in its mid-day bulletin. Among the districts where the new cases were reported, Udupi accounting for 27, followed by Hassan 13, seven each from Bengaluru urban and Yadgir, six each from Chitradurga and Dakahina Kannada, three each from Kalaburagi and Chikkamagaluru, Vijayapura 2, and one from Raichur.
