Nutan Batra Malik, the sister of Kargil war hero Vikram Batra remembered her brother on the occasion of Rakhi.
India is celebrating Raksha Bandhan, the festival of love between a brother and sister on Sunday. Brothers and sisters are sending messages and gifts across. Amid this, there is one special message, coming from the sister of one of India's celebrated war heroes, Vikram Batra.

Nutan Batra Malik is the elder sister of Vikram. Vikram has a brother and one more sister apart from Nutan.
The Param Vir Chakra awardee sacrificed his life at the age of 24. Captain Vikram Batra was born on 9 September 1974 at Ghuggar in the Palampur district of Himachal Pradesh. His father's name is GM Batra and his mother's name is Kamalkanta Batra. His early education was completed in Palam. Later, he enrolled at Chandigarh University for further studies in Science. He got into National Cadet Corps (NCC) in the first year of his college.
In 1996, Batra enrolled in the Indian Military Academy. On 6 December 1997, Vikram was joined on the post of lieutenant in 13 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles.
He was martyred on 7 July 1999 and later awarded the Param Vir Chakra posthumously on 15 August 1999.
A Bollywood film starring Siddharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani was made on the life of Vikram Batra. The film was named 'Shershaah', which was the code name of captain Vikram Batra during operations. The film received a resounding response from the Indian public.
