Jharkhand Land Scam: ED Warns CM Soren Of Another Home Visit If He Can't Appear For Questioning, Says Report

This is in conjunction with a money laundering case involving an alleged land swindle.

The Enforcement Directorate has written to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, requesting him to offer a date for interrogation -- January 29 or 31; else, the agency would travel to him for questioning, according to the sources, news agency ANI reported. Earlier on January 22, the ED called Soren for the eighth time in a case involving money laundering and an alleged land swindle. Responding to the summons, the CM allegedly stated on Thursday that he had received the investigative agency's summons and will respond in due time.

On January 20, the national investigating agency questioned the Jharkhand chief minister in the land scam case in Ranchi. Soren was questioned for about seven hours at his home. Following the departure of ED officials from his home, Soren smiled and greeted the fans who had been waiting outside all morning. He waved to them, and they showed their support with chants.

“Our Opposition is trying to dominate us with the help of ED and other investigating agencies, but we are not afraid of anything because we have not done anything wrong. We will face all the conspiracies of the Central government and will win this fight,” CM Soren had said.

Earlier in December, Soren wrote to the ED, stating that he might record his testimony in the land scam case at his official house on January 20th. Notably, Chief Minister Hemant Soren was missing from the last seven summons issued by ED, claiming that they were unlawful and were being used to harass his government.
