JEE Main 2021 Paper Leak: Court Sends Russian National To CBI Custody For Two Days
JEE Main 2021 Paper Leak: The Russian national arrested in relation to the 2021 paper leak of JEE Mains has been sent to two days CBI custody by a Delhi court.
A Delhi court sent a Russian national to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody for two days on Tuesday in the case of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2021 paper leak. The Russian national was arrested on October 3 upon his arrival from Kazakhstan on the basis of a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued by the CBI, news agency ANI reported.

CBI arrested the Russian national on Monday at the Indira Gandhi International Airport upon his arrival from Almaty, Kazakhstan, for questioning in connection with the alleged tampering of the JEE (Main) about a year ago, PTI reported.
Mikhail Shargin is suspected of assisting the other accused persons in hacking into the software platform on which the examination was held, The Hindu reports.
"During the investigation, it was discovered that some foreign nationals were involved in compromising many online examinations, including the JEE (Main)....the role of one Russian national was revealed, who allegedly tampered with the iLeon software — the platform on which the JEE(Main)-2021 examination was conducted," a CBI official said, reported The Hindu.

On September 1, 2021, the agency filed a complaint against Affinity Education Private Limited, its directors, employees, and others. They were allegedly assisting candidates in gaining admission to top National Institutes of Technology by solving question papers remotely from an examination centre in Haryana's Sonepat.
Following the filing of the case, the agency searched the national capital region, Pune, Jamshedpur, Indore, and Bengaluru, seizing 25 laptops, seven personal computers, 30 post-dated cheques, and a large stash of documents. It had also arrested seven people, including two directors and four Affinity Education employees.
