J&K: Terrorists Hurl Grenade Towards Police Post At Pulwama's Main Chowk, Two Personnel Injured

The valley has been witnessing several such attacks on civilians and security personnel even as forces conduct operations to neutralise notorious elements.

New Delhi: Terrorists on Sunday hurled a grenade towards a police post near Post Office in Jammu Kashmir's Pulwama, news agency ANI reported.

The incident occurred at Pulwama's Main Chowk, news agency PTI reported officials as saying. They informed that two police personnel were injured in the explosion and they have been hospitalised.

This comes days after terrorists killed a civilian and a policeman in Jammu and Kashmir in two separate incidents on December 22.

While the civilian, Rouf Ahmad, was shot in Nawakadal locality of Srinagar, terrorists opened fire on a police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in Bijbehara area of the south Kashmir's Anantnag district. The ASI, identified as Mohammad Ashraf, succumbed to his injuries at Bijbehara hospital.

The valley has been witnessing several such attacks on civilians and security personnel even as forces continue to conduct operations to neutralise notorious elements.

Last week, a police personnel was shot at by terrorists at Bandzawoo in Jammu & Kashmir's Pulwama. The personnel identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Wagay was shifted to a local hospital as he sustained gunshot injuries.

Jammu and Kashmir police informed that terrorists fired at police personnel Mushtaq Ahmad Wagay near his house in the Bandzoo area of Pulwama. He received gunshot injuries and was immediately shifted to hospital for the treatment.

In another serious instance prior to this, terrorists had carried out a deadly attack on a bus carrying Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police personnel on the outskirts of Srinagar on the 20th anniversary of the Parliament Attack.

The Kashmir Tigers, a little-known outfit that is believed to be a front of the Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist group, had claimed responsibility for the December 13 firing on the police bus.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar had stated that the attack was pre-planned as the armed police team usually returned to its camp around the same time after performing routine duties.

Meanwhile, more details about the fresh grenade attack in Pulwama are awaited.
