Jammu-Kashmir News: A terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Rampora area of Sopore, Baramulla district, on Saturday, the Army confirmed. Acting on specific intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area, a joint anti-terrorist operation was launched by the police and security forces.
"One terrorist has been neutralised by the security forces in the ongoing Operation in general area Rajpura, Sopore, Baramulla. Search Operation is in progress," Chinar Corps-Indian Army said in a post on social media platform X.

Earlier, the Kashmir Zone Police, posting on X (formerly Twitter), said, "During the search operation, an exchange of fire took place."

This incident follows an overnight encounter on Friday in the Baramulla district, where two terrorists were killed during a security forces operation. Arms, ammunition, and incriminating materials were recovered from the slain terrorists after the encounter that began on Thursday night following an intelligence-based operation.

Meanwhile, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited the Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday to review the prevailing security situation. Kathua, located on the border with Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, has been under heightened security measures amid increased anti-terrorism operations in the region. This visit follows the recent attack in Kishtwar district, where militants abducted and shot dead two village defence guards.

The Indian Army's Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) posted on X, "General Upendra Dwivedi, COAS, visited forward units of Rising Star Corps deployed in Kathua, Jammu & Kashmir, and was briefed on the existing security situation. The COAS also interacted with troops and commended them for their high standards of professionalism and devotion to duty."
