Army Foils Attempt Of Smuggling Narcotics, IED Near LOC In J&K's Pooch
During a search operation near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, the Army recovered two sophisticated pistols, two kilograms of narcotics and two kilograms of IED.
New Delhi: The Indian Army on Friday foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu & Kashmir's Poonch sector, news agency ANI reported. According to an official, 10 packets of drugs were recovered. "Indian Army foiled yet another attempt of narco-terror smuggling by recovering 10 packets of narcotics near Line of Control in Poonch Sector," a White Knight Corps statement said.
According to ANI, officials on March 12 said, during a search operation near the Line of Control at Jhangar and Naushera sectors the Indian Army recovered two sophisticated pistols, two kilograms of narcotics and two kilograms of Improvised Explosive Device (IED). According to the Army, the operation had averted a major incident that could have been initiated by the perpetrators using these weapons and IED, funded by narco-terrorists.
"Based on intelligence inputs, Indian Army conducted operations near the Line of Control at Jhangar, Naushera sectors on March 11. The operations led to the recovery of the pistols, narcotics, and 2 kg IED," the officials were quoted by ANI as saying. This comes just days after the Army recovered seven kilograms of narcotics. The Indian Army troops recovered kilograms kg of narcotics, and foreign currency worth over Rs 2 crore on March 5, from the residence of Mohd Rafique in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Jammu and Kashmir Police in a joint operation with security forces on Friday arrested two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists from Bandipora and seized live hand grenades from their possession.
"Bandipora Police along with 14RR and 3rd Bn CRPF arrested two terror associates of LeT at Sumlar, near Fisheries Farm during Naka checking and recovered two live Chinese grenades from them. Case registered under relevant Section of UAPA in PS Bandipora," tweeted Bandipora Police.
The arrests were made by Jammu and Kashmir Police along with the Indian Army (14 RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (3 BN) during Naka checking at Sumlar, near Fisheries Farm, ANI reported.
