Jammu & Kashmir: 4 LeT Terror Associates Held By Budgam Police, Incriminating Material Recovered

Srinagar: In a joint operation by 4 terror associates of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) have been apprehended by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district. "During a cordon and search operation troops of the 53 Rashtriya Rifles and police arrested 4 LeT militant associates in Pethkoot village of Beerwah tehsil. Incriminating material has been recovered from them, Police said.
They have been identified as Shakil Ahmad wani S/O- Ghulam Ahmad Wani , Showkat Ahmad S/O- Abdul Rashid both residents of Pethkot beerwah, Aqib Maqbool khan s/o- Mohd Maqbool khan R/O- Chedbug budgam and Ajaz Ahmad Dar S/O- Asadullah Dar R/O- Cherwani Chrarsharief.
This group was associated with banned terror organisation LET and was involved in providing shelter and logistical support to active terrorists in the area.

During CASO some Ammunition including Ak-47 rounds (24), 5 detonators and other incriminating material has also been recovered.
In this regard case FIR NO- 225/2020 PS Beerwah under relevant sections of UAPA is registered against them.
Meanwhile on September 1, Army busted multiple hideouts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition. The Army said that on August 30, it detected the movement of suspicious persons in Rampur Sector, Baramulla district.
"Due to adverse terrain, thick foliage and bad weather conditions, alert was sounded for a likely infiltration attempt. Surveillance Grid was beefed up across the area, ambushes were re-sited to thwart any such attempt.Surveillance continued through the night," it said.
The Army recovered five AK series rifles with six magazines and two sealed boxes of 1,254 rounds; six pistols with nine magazines and six rounds; 21 grenades; two UBGL grenades and two Kenwood radio sets.
