J&K: LeT Commander Killed in Anantnag Encounter. Local Terrorist Shot Dead In Kulgam
The security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Sirhama area of Anantnag following inputs about the presence of militants there, PTI reported a police official as saying.
New Delhi: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar, on Saturday said Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Nisar Dar was killed in an encounter in Sirhama area of Anantnag district.
The top police official said the search is still going on in the area to get hold of the hiding militants, ANI reported.
The security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Sirhama area of Anantnag following inputs about the presence of militants there, PTI reported a police official as saying.
The search operation turned into an encounter after the hiding militants fired upon the security forces, who retaliated.
The official said one local militant of the LeT outfit was killed in the ensuing exchange of firing, adding the group affiliation of the slain ultra is being ascertained.
Meanwhile, the security forces have neutralised one LeT terrorist in Kulgam.

One local terrorist of the proscribed terror outfit LeT has been killed in the encounter in Kulgam. The search operation is still underway in the area.
Earlier on Wednesday, IGP Kumar stated that 68 terrorists were neutralised in 40 successful operations in Kashmir Valley since December last year.

“Many successful operations have been carried out. Most of these operations are clean and without any collateral damage. Neutralising a terrorist doesn't give any happiness to anyone, but the fact remains that the person with a weapon is a threat to society,” IGP Kumar said.
