Two TRF Militants Arrested In Baramulla, Arms And Ammunition Recovered: J&K Police

Baramulla Police said that they have arrested two militants affiliated to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and have recovered incriminating materials, guns, and ammunition from their possessions.

In Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir Police and security personnel apprehended two militants belonging to the TRF outfit, an offshoot of the banned terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and recovered incriminating materials, guns, and ammunition from their possessions. According to an official statement issued by the Baramulla police, on September 21, police in north Kashmir's Baramulla learned from reliable sources that one individual, Yaseen Ahmad Shah, son of Tariq Ahmad and a resident of Janbazpora Baramulla, had gone missing and had joined the proscribed terror outfit TRF, which is thought to be an offshoot of Pakistan-based LeT.

As a result, a case was opened in Baramulla Police Station under relevant provisions of the law, and an investigation was launched, according to the statement.

"On receipt of this information, based on human/technical intelligence, a joint team of Baramulla Police, Army & CAPF during MVCP checking at Tapper Pattan apprehended the said militant. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 1 Pistol, 1 Pistol Magazine and 8 live rounds were recovered from his possession," the police spokesperson stated.

According to a police, the captured terrorist revealed the identity of his other partner, Parvaiz Ahmad Shah, a resident of Takiya Wagoora, during questioning. As a result, combined teams from the Baramulla Police, Army, and CAPF invaded his home and detained him. 

"Upon his disclosure, 2 Hand Grenades were also recovered from his possession," the spokesperson said. 

He stated that one pistol, one pistol magazine, and eight live bullets were found from Yaseen Shah's residence in Janbazpora on Saturday during additional interrogation and on his revelation.

"Investigation so far has revealed that these 2 terrorists were operating on the directions from Pakistan based handlers and were planning to recruit more militants and carry out miitant activities in Baramulla and nearby areas. The investigation is at the initial stage and more arrests and recoveries are expected," further reads the statement.
