New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Jammu and Kashmir on September 30 for three days, where he is set to address two rallies and review developmental activities, news agency PTI reported, However, his visit is not related to the upcoming assembly elections, J-K BJP general secretary and former minister Sunil Sharma said.
"Election is the prerogative of the ECI (Election Commission of India) which is an autonomous institution and scheduling dates are up to them. The BJP is ready. This (Shah's visit) is a routine visit and linking it with polls is not right," PTI quoted Sharma as saying.
Sharing the itinerary, Sharma said the Union Home Minister will arrive at Jammu on September 30, address a rally in Rajouri the next day, arrive in Kashmir the same evening and address a rally in Baramulla on October 2.
"Every person has faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government. To give that belief a shape, to fulfil those expectations, and to assess the developmental activities of the UT's LG administration, the Union Minister will arrive in J-K on September 30," Sharma said, adding, “There are many expectations and hopes of people across Kashmir from the BJP and the Central government.”
Sharma further said that the people from the Valley, especially north Kashmir, will be attending the rally.
The Union Minister will speak about various developmental activities undertaken by the Centre, Sharma said, adding, "He will also speak about new steps taken by the Centre on the developmental front."
Terming the minister’s visit as a big step to boost the belief of the people in the saffron party and the Central Government, Sharma said, "It will be the Union Home Minister's direct dialogue with the people of Kashmir in the form of the rally."
Sharma further said that Amit Shah will most likely lay the foundation stone for the proposed cancer hospital in Eidgah area during his visit.
