Indore: Congress Puts Up Uma Bharti 'Missing' Posters Across City, Know Why

The move came after the Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s government adopted a new excise policy which slashed the foreign liquor prices in the state by 10-13 percent.

New Delhi: Taking a political jibe, Congress has covered the streets of Indore with "missing" posters of Madhya Pradesh’s former Chief Minister Uma Bharti.

All main roads of the city have posters saying, “Chitthi na koi sandes, jaane woh konsa desh, jaha aap chale gaye (No letter or a word from you, which country is this where have you gone).”

The move came after the Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s government adopted a new excise policy which slashed the foreign liquor prices in the state by 10-13 percent.

The Congress alleged that Bharti had announced that she would hold a ‘lathh andolan’ (Stick revolution) for banning liquor in the state from January 15.

According to city Congress speaker Vivek said that the posters are hung at Regal, Rajwada, Cantonment, and Sindhi colony intersections on Friday. The posters are allegedly meant to remind Bharti of her promise to make Madhya Pradesh a liquor-free state.

Vivek added that “BJP makes such announcements only for political gains, we are curious to know if she is afraid of the liquor mafia or Shivraj Singh Chouhan. We have just hung posters for now. In our next step, we will bang plates to remind Uma Bharti of her warning.”

The posters are in reference to Bharti’s warning of picking up sticks against liquor business in the state.

The new excise policy set by the Shivraj government will reduce the prices of not only foreign liquor but also allow any individual with an annual income of Rs 1 crore to open a bar at home.

The new policy also allows micro-breweries that can produce 500-1000 liters of alcohol daily to be set up at hotels to brew fresh beer.
