India Leading The World With More Than 70 Start-ups Crossing $1 Billion Valuation: PM Modi In Mann Ki Baat
Modi noted the increase in the usage of the term ‘unicorn’ as more start-ups are getting record investments and entering the unicorn club in India.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his monthly radio address to the nation, Mann Ki Baat, asserted that this era is that of start-ups. According to a report in PTI, he said that India is leading the world in this field with more than 70 start-ups having crossed the mark of $1 billion valuation.
He emphasised on three things for a country with a large number of youth population — ideas and innovation, passion to take risks and the 'can do' spirit. He said that when these three things come together, miracles happen and results often not imagined are achieved.
"These days we hear about start-ups all around us. It is true that this is the era of start-ups and it is also true that in this field, in a way, India is leading the world," said the Prime Minister.
He noted the increase in the usage of the term ‘unicorn’ as more and more start-ups are getting record investments and entering the unicorn club in India.
"Even in small cities of the country, the reach of start-ups has increased. Nowadays, the word unicorn is much in discussion. Unicorn is a start-up whose valuation is one billion dollars, around Rs 7,000 crore," he added.
Talking about pollution, PM Modi cited an example of a youngster who has put forward a solution to the problem. He said that the youngster has introduced a technology that can cut emmissions from buses by 40 percent.
Prime Minister Modi also cautioned that the pandemic is not over yet and “it’s the responsibility of all of us to take precautions.”
