India Reaches 1 Billion Covid Vaccination Milestone. PM Modi Congratulates Frontline Workers

To mark the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital as India crossed the one billion covid-19 vaccination jabs mark.

Prime Minister Modi also took to Twitter and congratulated the nation for achieving this landmark.
Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh, Regional Director WHO South-East Asia, on the occasion of India’s 100 crore vaccination milestone, said, "huge congratulations to India for marking yet another milestone -- a billion COVID-19 vaccine doses administered."
"This extraordinary feat in a short span was not possible without strong political leadership, inter-sectoral convergence, dedicated efforts of the entire health and frontline workforce, and the people themselves. India’s progress must be viewed in the context of the country’s commendable commitment and efforts to ensure that these life-saving vaccines are accessible globally," Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh, Regional Director WHO South-East Asia added.
On Wednesday, Union Health Minister Dr Mandaviya on his official Twitter handle appealed to the people who are still to be vaccinated to get the covid-19 vaccine dose immediately.
"The country is close to making a vaccine century. To be a part of this golden opportunity, I appeal to the countrymen that those who are yet to be vaccinated, by getting vaccinated immediately, contribute to this historic golden vaccination journey of India," he said.
India continues to report less than 15000 Coronavirus COVID-19 cases and 19,446 recoveries in the last 24 hrs as per Union Health Ministry.
So far, India has registered a total of 3,41,08,996 covid-19 cases, out of which, 3,34,78,247 are recovered, and 1,78,098 are active cases. As many as 99,12,82,283 vaccinations have been administered till now.
