In Yet Another Crackdown Against Pak, India Suspends Exchange Of All Inbound Mails, Parcels

The Indian government has suspended all mail and parcel exchange with Pakistan via air and surface routes. The decision was taken following a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam district that killed 26 civilians on April 22.

The Central government on Saturday has suspended the exchange of all categories of mail and parcels from Pakistan via air and surface routes. The recent development comes after a notice issued by the Ministry of Communications said on Saturday. The decision has been taken in the wake of a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam district that killed 26 civilians on April 22.

“Government of India has decided to suspend exchange of all categories of inbound mail and parcels from Pakistan through air and surface routes,” a public notice issued by the department of posts said.

Earlier, the centre imposed an immediate ban on the direct and indirect import of all goods from Pakistan. It also banned the Pakistani-flagged ships from entering the Indian ports and prohibited Indian-flagged vessels from visiting ports in Pakistan.

The decision will completely halt all the inbound shipments of goods from Pakistan to India. According to news agency PTI, India’s exports to Pakistan in April-January 2024-25 stood at $447.65 million, while imports were a meagre $0.42 million.

India has take several measures against Pakistan after the terror attack in the valley. These measures  include suspension of all visas, reduction of Embassy strength, ouster of military diplomats, and suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.

India also cancelled all the types of visas granted to the Pakistani nationals and ordered them to leave the country by April 30. It also closed its airspace for flights operated by the Pakistani airlines.
