IMD Issues Yellow Alert In Delhi, Himachal; Orange Alert In Kerala's Kannur. Check Full Forecast Here

IMD issued a yellow alert in several states due to heavy rainfall forecast in Rajasthan, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Kerala among others.

As rains continue to wreak havoc across the country, the India Meteorological Department on Thursday issued a yellow alert in Delhi and several other states in view of heavy rainfall forecast. The states where the warning has been issued include Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Andhra Pradesh. 

A yellow alert has also been issued for Jammu and Kashmir, entire state of West Bengal, and most districts in Assam. 

While a yellow alert has been issued for Kerala, an orange alert has been separately issued for Kannur and Ernakulam. 

In Chhattisgarh, the weather department issued the alert for Korea, Korba, Bilaspur, Sarguja, and Balrampur. 

Rewari, Mewat, Pallav, Gurugram, Charkhi Dadri are under yellow alert in Haryana, while Bilaspur, Una, Mandi, Shimla, Kangra, and Solan in Himachal have been warned of heavy rainfall.

Rains Continue To Batter Rajasthan

Parts of Rajasthan were lashed by heavy rainfall till Thursday morning with Jaipur, Sikar, Nagaur, Jodhpur, and Dausa being hit the most, according to the weather data.

"Heavy rainfall activity in the state is likely to reduce from August 17," a meteorological department official said.

The official also said that moderate to heavy rains are likely to occur in some parts of Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Jodhpur divisions on Thursday and Friday, due to the circulation system still persisting over north-eastern part of the state.

"Heavy to very heavy rainfall may also occur at some places during this period, with heavy rain activities reducing in the state from Saturday," the official said. 

The official also hinted at the possibility of moderate to heavy rains in parts of Bikaner, Udaipur, and Bharatpur divisions in the upcoming two-three days.

Yellow & Orange Alert In Himachal, 126 Roads Closed

The local meteorological department in Himachal issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall on Thursday. A yellow alert has also been issued in the state for heavy rain in isolated parts till August 21.

As rains led to closure of 51 more roads on the intervening night, The number of roads shut on Wednesday evening increased from 75 to 126 on Thursday morning, PTI reported.

The state emergency operation centre stated 76 roads were blocked in Shimla, 18 in Mandi, 13 in Kullu, eight in Sirmaur, five in Kangra, three in Kinnaur, two in Lahaul & Spiti, and one in Chamba district on Thursday morning.
